This post is actually a couple of days late, but Nittany Lions Wire is officially five years old. Man, did that time fly by.
I shared a few thoughts about the path to launching Nittany Lions Wire on LinkedIn, which you can read below if you’d like, but I just wanted to share a quick thank you to all who have visited the site over the years.
We have had a good series of ups and downs since launching the site, and it has largely been influenced by the performance of the football program in that span. So, in other words, good Septembers and not-so-great Novembers. But we have been able to cover some good stuff over the years, including head coaching changes for the men’s basketball and football programs, a College Football Playoff run to the semifinals and a Rose Bowl victory, numerous high-profile NFL draft picks, a national powerhouse wrestling program, and a continuing growth in the sports of men’s and women’s hockey.
The staffing has changed a number of times and I am proud to see some of our top contributors over the years have gone on to land similar lead writing roles wiht other sites in the USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s College and NFL Wires networks, not to mention others using Nittany Lions Wire to pad their profiles for other job opportunities in their own media careers.
This effort has always been a rewarding side gig for me, and I have been grateful for the last five years in this role leading the Nittany Lions Wire team. I look forward to continuing to grow the site and expand our coverage and reach with more coverage of the non-football sports and continuing to strive toward getting everything off my wish list of content ideas to become reality.
Here’s to the next five years!
Happy 5th anniversary Nittany Lions Wire
