Ball Hyped is a social sharing website geared toward sports fans and sports blogs. Authors submit their own content and readers vote for, or hype up, their favorite entries broken down by sport. I regularly submit links to the site and have been flattered by the response at times.

One of my stories was selected to be a part of Ball Hyped’s collection of sports blog stories and columns, titles The Best Sports Blogs of 2012. My column for Crystal Ball Run reflecting on my somewhat personal connection to former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno was chosen among a handful of viable stories up for consideration.

The book is a free e-book that can be read online or downloaded and read on an iPad or other eReader.

I am extremely pleased to announce my plans to release my first book, coming in 2013.

“100 Reasons to Love College Football” will take a look at many of the traditions and history of the sport of college football that made many fans fall in love with the sport at some point in time or another. In it I hope to cover many of the great facets of the game that fans from each region enjoy, honor and cherish with the intent of giving everyone a look in to what makes up being a college football fan from different perspectives.

This book will be self-published through the help with Amazon and I anticipate being able to have the book available before the start of the next college football season. A more specific time frame will have to be determined later, with progress and efficiency determining whether spring or summer will be the most likely target.

More details on the book will be shared in the future, but I felt like now was a good time to at least get the word out there about the book project. I am extremely excited to put this together and hope you will enjoy it when it is ready.

For more consistent updates on the book’s progress and release details as they become available I encourage you to check out the book’s website, Like on Facebook, follow on Twitter and/or +1 on Google+.

It was an honor to be included on this list by Athlon Sports. Athlon Sports put together a list of 20 Twitter accounts to follow for Big Ten football coverage. Among the likes of Adam Rittenberg and Brian Bennett from ESPN.com and Tom Dienhart from Big Ten Network, Chicago Tribune’s Teddy Greenstein and Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Doug Lesmerises and more, my account for Penn State coverage on Examiner.com, @PSUExaminer, was included with some kind words.

“Kevin McGuire provides a [fountain] of Penn State and Big Ten information in bite-sized form. Lots of links, stats and tidbits for the Big Ten fan on the go.”

Read the full list for more Twitter recommendations for Big Ten football coverage.

I also encourage following my main college football coverage on Twitter @KevinOnCFB if you want more than just Penn State discussion and analysis.
